Conduct Telescopic Materials Handler Operations
Course overview
This unit covers conducting telescopic handler operations in the civil construction industry. It includes: planning and preparing; conducting machine pre-operational checks; operating front telehandler; lifting, carrying and placing materials; selecting, removing and fitting attachments; relocating the telehandler; carrying out machine operator maintenance; and cleaning up.
This course will be delivered in a classroom based, face to face environment which will include theory and practical tasks out in the field.
Classes start at 8am.
- performing pre-start, start-up and shutdown procedures
- checking controls, brakes and attachments for manoeuvrability and serviceability and rectifying or reporting faults
- operating the telescopic materials handler
- attaching and securing appropriate lifting gear
- shifting the load
- selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing attachments, which must be certified and approved in line with workplace procedures
- transporting the machine and equipment between work sites
- isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities
- safety data sheet and hazardous materials handling methods
- development and compliance with job safety analyses and safe work method statement
- maintenance and basic diagnostic
- recyclable materials
- housekeeping activities
- environmental management plan
- parking and securing equipment
- You will be required to undertake a LLN skills assessment prior to commencing the course.
- At the time of booking, you must disclose any medications or disability which may affect your learning or physical ability to conduct safe operation of machinery (including any vision impairment)
- You must understand and speak the English language and have the ability to conduct Mathematical Calculations at a level that enables the safe operation of machinery
- You must supply your current drivers licence or another form of photo identification
- You are required to wear comfortable and practical clothing and work boots
- Tea & Coffee is provided.
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the commencement of training.
This course is Nationally Recognised Training and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and wallet sized competency card.
Individual Participants
All courses require a position holding deposit of 50%, you will be advised of the amount at the time of booking. Payment MUST be received within 48 hours of booking the course or the place can be given to another student. The balance will be required prior to the course commencement date. Facilities include Bank Transfer, EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cash.
Please note there is a 1% surcharge for debit card payment and 1.5% surcharge for credit card payment.
Employers/Employment Agencies
Employers/Employment Agencies will be forwarded an invoice upon receipt of booking form. Unless prior agreement has been made, 1 Stop Training Centre’s payment terms are 14-day from the date of the invoice.
Should payment continue to be outstanding beyond the payment terms as stated above, the customer is responsible for all costs including any legal costs and any other fees that are incurred by 1 Stop Training Centre in recovering any outstanding monies.
Should a participant not attend the course/class on the nominated day(s), full fees for that participant will be charged, unless there have been prior arrangements made with 1 Stop Training Centre.
