Course overview

Build your career as a trade qualified plant operator with the nationally accredited Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations. Learn how to safely operate plant equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers and rollers, and work on exciting civil infrastructure projects in this booming industry. This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.

This qualification consists of 20 units of competency. 15 Core units and an additional 5 elective units which are negotiated between yourself, your Employer and us as the RTO.

There is a requirement that you do an average of 3 hours per week (pro rata for part-time with a minimum of one hour) for planned training, averaged over a 4-week cycle.

Each unit has a theory (coursebook) and practical (on-job training) component. Your supervisor will also sign a third-party report.

There may be some units where you will be required to attend a course at one of our sites.

Topics Covered
Entry requirements & Pre-requisites

Individuals wishing to undertake this course must:

  • Be over 17 years of age at time of enrolment
  • Be eligible for Skills First Funding
  • Be physically fit to be able to:some text
    • Kneel of the ground to give compressions on a mannikin
    • Able to stand for periods of time on uneven surfaces
    • Work at heights (climb a ladder and stand in an elevated Work Platform) at over 3m in height
    • Sit in a mobile plant (roller, excavator, backhoe, frontend loader, skid steer) for long periods of time.

Be able to understand and speak the English language and can conduct Mathematical Calculations at a level that enables the safe operation of plant machinery.

Need to know
  • You must be signed into an apprenticeship and have a confirmed Apprenticeship number prior to commencement the program.
  • At the time of enrolment, you must disclose any medications or disability which may affect your learning or physical ability to conduct safe operation of plant machinery (including any vision impairment)
  • You must understand and speak the English language and can conduct Mathematical Calculations at a level that enables the safe operation of plant machinery.
  • You must supply your current drivers’ licence or another form of photo identification and Medicare card. Eligible students applying for subsidised funding must provide their health care card.

All course participants will be provided with a student information book detailing their rights and responsibilities.

Assessments
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) & Credit transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning is a process where people are provided with an opportunity to have their skills and knowledge assessed that they have developed outside the formal education system, for example: life experience, informal training or work experience. The process involves the student providing physical evidence of their experiences that correlate with the unit of competency. Students are required to complete a RPL application if the student intends to apply for RPL, they MUST advise administration during the pre-training review. 1 Stop will recognise the AQF VET qualifications and VET statements of attainment issued by any other RTO. Credit Transfer is available for students who have previously completed units provided the units are relevant to the qualification the student is enrolling in and can be identified as a current or equivalent unit of competency.

Licences & Certification

This qualification is Nationally Recognised Training and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations on completion of the full qualification or a Statement of Attainment for units successfully completed or and wallet sized competency cards for plant machinery.

Payment terms

1 Stop has a fee protection mechanism in place in that we do not accept any more than $1,500.00 at enrolment. The following fee schedule will apply for fees of $1,500.00 or more.

The enrolment fees will be payable as follows:

*This amount will vary according to any concessions that may apply.

^25% of the total enrolment fee less the non-refundable induction fee.

#The remaining balance is due 12 months from induction visit or course completion, whichever comes first.

Up to a maximum of $250.00 is invoiced after the induction visit. This fee is non-refundable. A cooling off period of 30 days from the induction date applies. After this time the remaining balance(s) will be invoiced regardless of if or when your employee discontinues with their course or ceases employment after that time. Refer to fees and refunds in the Employer Handbook.

Non-payment of any fees may result in referral to debt collection and cancellation of training. Invoices will be emailed to the nominated contact in Section 5 of the Employer Handbook.

Payment is due 7 days after receipt of invoice.
