Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations
Course overview
This assessment only pathway course covers the conducting skid steer loader operations in the civil construction industry. It includes planning and preparing; conducting machine pre-operational checks; operating skid steer loader; lifting, carrying and placing materials; selecting, removing and fitting attachments; relocating the skid steer loader; carrying out machine operator maintenance; and cleaning up.
This assessment only pathway course is delivered in a face-to-face classroom environment and contains both theory and practical elements. Practical tasks are delivered out in the field.
Classes start at 8am and finish at 4:30pm.
- Interpret & apply compliance documentation and work instructions relevant to the task
- Obtain, confirm & apply safety requirements
- Identify, obtain & implement signage requirements
- Select appropriate tools & equipment required
- Identify & apply environmental protection requirements
- Conduct pre-operational machine checks
- Identify site hazards and minimise risks
- Operate skid steer loader to work instructions
- Lift, carry and place materials
- Select, remove and fit attachments
- Use attachments in accordance with recommendations and design limits
- Relocate Skid Steer Loader
- Carry out machine operator maintenance
- Conduct inspection & fault finding
- Clear work area in accordance with environmental management plan
- Clean, check, maintain & store plant, tools & equipment
Individuals wishing to undertake this course must:
- have a minimum of 40 hours experience operating a skid steer
- have basic communication, literacy, numeracy skills and understand and speak the English language that enables the safe performance of a frontend loader
- You will be required to undertake a LLN skills assessment prior to commencing the course.
- You must provide, on the 1st day of training:
- two (2) forms of identification, one (1) must include a photo, one (1) must include current address
- At the time of booking, you must disclose any medications or disability which may affect your learning or physical ability to conduct the safe operation of a Skid Steer
- Wear comfortable and practical clothing and work boots. (safety boots preferred)
- Tea & Coffee is provided.
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the commencement of training.
Upon booking into the course, you will receive a copy of the Student Information Book detailing your rights and responsibilities including our complaints and appeals procedure, a copy is also available on our website.
This course is Nationally Recognised Training and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and wallet sized competency card.
Individual Participants
All courses require a position holding deposit of 50%, you will be advised of the amount at the time of booking. Payment MUST be received within 48 hours of booking the course or the place can be given to another student. The balance will be required prior to the course commencement date. Facilities include Bank Transfer, EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cash.
Please note there is a 1% surcharge for debit card payment and 1.5% surcharge for credit card payment.
Employers/Employment Agencies
Employers/Employment Agencies will be forwarded an invoice upon receipt of booking form. Unless prior agreement has been made, 1 Stop Training Centre’s payment terms are 14-day from the date of the invoice.
Should payment continue to be outstanding beyond the payment terms as stated above, the customer is responsible for all costs including any legal costs and any other fees that are incurred by 1 Stop Training Centre in recovering any outstanding monies.
Should a participant not attend the course/class on the nominated day(s), full fees for that participant will be charged, unless there have been prior arrangements made with 1 Stop Training Centre.
