Licence to perform dogging
Course overview
Our nationally recognised "Dogging" course is a WorkSafe issued high risk licence class - DG. With this licence you can perform dogging activities in any state or territory of Australia.
A trained and licensed Dogman is required when any decisions need to be made regarding:
- The identification of lifting points.
- Selection / Inspection of slings
- Selecting of a slinging technique.
- Directing Crane movements.
This 5-day course is delivered in a face-to-face classroom environment and contains both theory and practical elements. The practical component will be delivered in our in-site training yard.
Classes start at 8am.
- The selection of the slinging method and lifting gear for safe work lifting procedures
- Inspecting lifting equipment (i.e. prior to use)
- Slinging methods using a range of lifting equipment, including flexible steel wire rope, chains and synthetic slings
- Directing crane operators using verbal, hand and whistle signals
- Procedures relating to differing weather and site conditions
Individuals wishing to undertake this course must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Can use the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high-risk work.
- Have general good health and fitness and any pre-existing medical conditions that will affect the training must be disclosed prior to attending.
- To obtain a Victorian WorkSafe Licence, applicants must reside in Victoria or, if they reside elsewhere, have a valid reason for obtaining the licence in Victoria.
- You must provide, on the 1st day of training:
- two (2) forms of identification, one (1) must include a photo, one (1) must include current address
- Wear comfortable and practical clothing and work boots. (Safety boots preferred)
- Tea & Coffee is provided.
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the commencement of training.
- All course participants have access to a student information book detailing their rights and responsibilities.
This course is a Nationally Recognised Accredited Course and applicants deemed competent at the successful conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and an email from WorkSafe Victoria, with a link to a Notice of Assessment (which acts as a temporary licence for 60 days).
The Notice of Assessment must be lodged on the myworksafe portal or with Australia post within
60 days. Upon successful lodgement and payment of the Worksafe Licence Fee (https://www.worksafe.vic.gov.au/licence-types-and-fees ), a Worksafe ‘Licence to Perform High Risk Work – category DG’ will be available on the Worksafe portal or posted to the applicant
Individual Participants
All courses require a position holding deposit of 50%, you will be advised of the amount at the time of booking. Payment MUST be received within 48 hours of booking the course or the place can be given to another student. The balance will be required prior to the course commencement date. Facilities include Bank Transfer, EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cash.
Please note there is a 1% surcharge for debit card payment and 1.5% surcharge for credit card payment.
Employers/Employment Agencies
Employers/Employment Agencies will be forwarded an invoice upon receipt of booking form. Unless prior agreement has been made, 1 Stop Training Centre’s payment terms are 14-day from the date of the invoice.
Should payment continue to be outstanding beyond the payment terms as stated above, the customer is responsible for all costs including any legal costs and any other fees that are incurred by 1 Stop Training Centre in recovering any outstanding monies.
Should a participant not attend the course/class on the nominated day(s), full fees for that participant will be charged, unless there have been prior arrangements made with 1 Stop Training Centre.
